Megan Carter – Founder of Green and Ivy
Megan Carter is a San Diego native, entrepreneur, and ceramic artist who believes creativity and natural living go hand in hand. After college, Megan spent more than 22 years working in the software industry. In 2017, a corporate layoff unexpectedly ended that chapter of her career. During a transitional period while raising her two daughters and teaching wellness and essential oil classes, a neighbor asked Megan to clean her kitchen. What began as a simple favor quickly sparked a bigger idea.
Inspired to create a healthier alternative to conventional cleaning services, Megan founded Green and Ivy Cleaning Services in 2019. Built on the philosophy that homes can be cleaned effectively without harsh chemicals, Green and Ivy uses all-natural, non-toxic cleaning products that are safe for families, pets, and the environment. The company quickly grew into a licensed, insured business with a dedicated team serving homes and small businesses throughout San Diego County.
In 2025, Megan and her partner Ian Livingstone moved from Ocean Beach to Ramona, where the space and quiet countryside allowed her to expand another lifelong passion—ceramics. Megan now runs a fully equipped home pottery studio where she creates functional and decorative pottery and teaches hands-on ceramics classes. Her workshops focus on hand-building, slab and coil techniques, glazing, and the joy of creative exploration. In addition to teaching from her home studio, Megan is an active member of the Ramona arts community. Her ceramic pieces are currently on display and available for purchase at 2Create Art Gallery in Ramona, where local artists showcase their work and connect with the community. Megan also teaches ceramics classes through The Art Center Ramona, where she enjoys introducing students of all ages and experience levels to the creativity and joy of working with clay. She continues to deepen her own practice through ceramics coursework at Mesa College Continuing Education, where she studies glazing, firing techniques, and advanced ceramic processes.
Whether through natural home care or working with clay, Megan’s work centers around the same idea: creating beauty, balance, and well-being in everyday life.
