Ceramics Classes that we Offer:

Textured Vessels: Hand-Built Functional Ceramics

Join me for a creative and relaxing 2-hour hand-building ceramics class in my home studio near Dos Picos Park in Ramona. (The exact address will be shared after enrollment.)

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll create a beautifully textured ceramic vessel using hand-building techniques. We’ll focus on shaping functional forms such as bowls, cups, or small serving pieces, then explore layering surface textures and impressions to give your work depth and character. I will demonstrate each step and guide you as you design and construct your piece.

We’ll finish with vibrant, food-safe glaze options that enhance texture and bring your vessel to life with rich color and dimension. Your finished piece will be both artistic and functional—perfect for everyday use or gifting.

Each participant receives 3 pounds of clay, enough for one or more vessels depending on size. Additional clay is available for $1.50 per pound if you’d like to create more. You’ll have access to a wide variety of tools, textures, and glaze options to personalize your work.

Snack Bowls with Personality

In this beginner-friendly class, artists will learn the timeless pinch-pot technique and transform clay into their own snack bowl with personality. We’ll explore how to shape bowls, add feet, faces, textures, and playful details to make each piece unique. I’ll demonstrate the process step-by-step, then we will guide participants as they create their own functional and whimsical snack bowls.

Each participant will receive 3 pounds of clay, enough for one larger bowl or several smaller creations. Students will also have access to textures, clay tools, and vibrant low-fire glaze options to decorate their pieces. No prior experience necessary — just bring imagination and a willingness to play with clay!

Crack Pots! A Hand-Building Ceramics Class

Class location will be NEAR Dos Picos Park in Ramona, CA. The exact location will be given after enrollment has been completed. In this creative 2-hour class, you’ll hand-build your own crack pot using clay and sodium silicate. Choose from white or red clay, along with opposing slips, to experiment with textures and surface effects as we stretch and shape the form. Each participant will receive 5 pounds of clay—enough to make one larger piece or several smaller vessels. If you decide 3 pounds is not enough clay, an additional fee of $1.50 per pound will be added to your class fee.
Once your piece is built, you’ll have the option to:
• Have it fired as-is for a beautiful, natural unglazed finish, or
• Choose from a variety of low-fire glazes, underglazes, and oxides, to decorate your work.
• If you would like to return for a second session, after your piece(s) have been bisque fired, in order to use medium fire glazes, and also have me do a second firing to cone 5, an additional glaze and firing fee will cost $10.
