Ceramic Masks – Hand-Building with Clay

Join me for a creative and expressive ceramics class where you’ll design and sculpt your own one-of-a-kind ceramic mask! In this beginner-friendly hand-building class, students will learn how to shape facial forms using slab and sculpting techniques while exploring texture, layering, and dimensional design.
You’ll learn:
Hand-building techniques for creating masks.
How to build facial features up or carve them down into the clay.
Placement techniques for eyes, noses, lips, and contours.
Texture techniques using stamps, carving tools, botanicals, and sculpting tools.
How to create expressive, whimsical, nature-inspired, or decorative designs.
Students may create wall-hanging masks, garden masks, fantasy faces, botanical masks, or abstract sculptural pieces. All materials, tools, clay, glazing, and kiln firing are included. No experience necessary—just bring your imagination!

Ceramic Mugs and Cups with Personality

Join me for a playful and creative evening making ceramic mugs and cups full of personality! In this beginner-friendly hand-building class, you’ll learn techniques for building mugs from slabs and coils while adding fun facial features, textures, sculpted details, patterns, and expressive designs that make each piece unique. Create anything from whimsical character mugs to cozy nature-inspired cups with charm and attitude.

We’ll cover mug construction, handle attachment techniques, facial feature placement, texture tools, sculpting methods, and tips for making functional ceramic drinkware. Students can build one large mug or several smaller cups during class.

All tools, textures, and clay are included. Pieces will be kiln fired and ready for glazing at a future class session.

Ceramic Plant Pal Workshop

Create your own adorable ceramic “Sproutosaur” or plant creature in this playful hand-building pottery class! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll design and sculpt a whimsical animal or creature that can grow sprouts, microgreens, herbs, or small plants right from its back. These fun ceramic planters are full of personality and make unique gifts or cheerful garden décor.
Students will learn pinch pot construction techniques while exploring sculpting methods, texture tools, patterns, and surface design. We’ll also introduce underglazing techniques to add colorful details and expressive character to each piece.

Garden Decor Ceramics Workshop

Create beautiful, one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces to enhance your garden in this creative hand-building pottery workshop! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll design and build whimsical garden décor such as mushrooms, plant stakes, mini houses, garden markers, flowers, snails, decorative vessels, and other nature-inspired ceramic creations.
Students will learn slab-building methods while exploring sculpting techniques, texture tools, patterns, surface design, and glaze techniques to bring each piece to life with color and personality. This class is relaxed, imaginative, and perfect for all skill levels.
Create one larger statement piece or several smaller decorative items during class. All clay, tools, textures, and glazes are included.

Ceramic Bowls with Texture

Join me for a relaxed, creative open studio class at my home pottery studio in Ramona. I extend the class time by an hour so people don’t feel obligated to arrive on time, nor stay until the end.
We’ll kick things off with a quick 15-minute demo on how to make a glazed ceramic hanging bird feeder, then you’re free to:
• Create whatever you’d like
• Glaze pieces you’ve already made
• Play, experiment, and unwind
This is a non-beginner, private event—just a cozy space to create alongside others who already know the basics.
$25 for 3 hours (instead of the usual $50)
Can’t swing it? No problem—bring snacks, plants, or beverages to share instead 🌿

Textured Vessels: Hand-Built Functional Ceramics

Join me for a creative and relaxing 2-hour hand-building ceramics class in my home studio near Dos Picos Park in Ramona. (The exact address will be shared after enrollment.)

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll create a beautifully textured ceramic vessel using hand-building techniques. We’ll focus on shaping functional forms such as bowls, cups, or small serving pieces, then explore layering surface textures and impressions to give your work depth and character. I will demonstrate each step and guide you as you design and construct your piece.

We’ll finish with vibrant, food-safe glaze options that enhance texture and bring your vessel to life with rich color and dimension. Your finished piece will be both artistic and functional—perfect for everyday use or gifting.

Each participant receives 3 pounds of clay, enough for one or more vessels depending on size. Additional clay is available for $1.50 per pound if you’d like to create more. You’ll have access to a wide variety of tools, textures, and glaze options to personalize your work.

Snack Bowls with Personality

In this beginner-friendly class, artists will learn the timeless pinch-pot technique and transform clay into their own snack bowl with personality. We’ll explore how to shape bowls, add feet, faces, textures, and playful details to make each piece unique. I’ll demonstrate the process step-by-step, then we will guide participants as they create their own functional and whimsical snack bowls.

Each participant will receive 3 pounds of clay, enough for one larger bowl or several smaller creations. Students will also have access to textures, clay tools, and vibrant low-fire glaze options to decorate their pieces. No prior experience necessary — just bring imagination and a willingness to play with clay!

 

Crack Pots! A Hand-Building Ceramics Class

Class location will be NEAR Dos Picos Park in Ramona, CA. The exact location will be given after enrollment has been completed. In this creative 2-hour class, you’ll hand-build your own crack pot using clay and sodium silicate. Choose from white or red clay, along with opposing slips, to experiment with textures and surface effects as we stretch and shape the form. Each participant will receive 5 pounds of clay—enough to make one larger piece or several smaller vessels. If you decide 3 pounds is not enough clay, an additional fee of $1.50 per pound will be added to your class fee.
Once your piece is built, you’ll have the option to:
• Have it fired as-is for a beautiful, natural unglazed finish, or
• Choose from a variety of low-fire glazes, underglazes, and oxides, to decorate your work.
• If you would like to return for a second session, after your piece(s) have been bisque fired, in order to use medium fire glazes, and also have me do a second firing to cone 5, an additional glaze and firing fee will cost $10.

 

Pinch Pot Ceramics: Planters & Tea Light Holders

Join me for a creative and relaxing 2-hour hand building ceramics class in my home studio near Dos Picos Park in Ramona. (The exact address will be shared after enrollment.)
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the timeless pinch-pot technique and transform simple clay forms into either a charming planter or a glowing tea light holder. I will demonstrate each project, then guide you as you shape and personalize your own pieces. Whether you make one larger vessel or several smaller ones, this class is all about creativity, exploration, and enjoying the magic of clay.
Each participant receives 3 pounds of clay, enough for multiple projects. Additional clay is available for $1.50 per pound if you’d like to create more. You’ll also have access to a variety of textures, tools, and low-fire glaze options to decorate your work.

 

Ceramic Holiday Tree Workshop

Location: My Home Studio (near Dos Picos Park in Ramona – our address will be given upon class interest). Join me for a cozy and creative holiday workshop! In this hands-on class, you’ll design and build your own hand-crafted ceramic Holiday tree—complete with cutouts and a battery-powered candle so it can glow beautifully at home. Participants can choose from a variety of textures, stamps, carving tools, and low-fire glazes to personalize their tree. No clay experience needed—this workshop is beginner-friendly and fun for all ages (kids welcome with an adult).

Ceramics Sprouting Animal Friends Workshop

Join me for a fun and creative Ceramics Sprouting Pet Workshop where you’ll design, sculpt, and glaze your very own ceramic Sprouting Pet! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn simple hand-building techniques to create an adorable creature of your choice, then decorate it with vibrant low-fire glazes. Once fired, you’ll take home a unique, living piece of art ready to grow fresh sprouts.
